Abstract
Secundaire victimisatie kan optreden wanneer er sprake is van ontkenning van slachtofferschap. Slachtoffers voelen zich herhaald slachtoffer, omdat ze zich niet gehoord, niet respectvol behandeld of niet goed geïnformeerd voelen. In dit onderzoek hebben 113 deelnemers aangegeven hoeveel erkenning zij toeschrijven aan slachtoffers van vergelijkbare online en traditionele offline delicten (oplichting, seksuele intimidatie, huis-/computervredebreuk, stalking en pesten). Alhoewel de gemiddelde erkenning lager was voor slachtoffers van alle online versies van de delicten, waren de verschillen enkel statistisch significant voor online seksuele intimidatie en cyberstalking. Dit is een zorgwekkende stand van zaken, omdat de ontkenning van slachtofferschap verregaande gevolgen kan hebben voor slachtoffers. Bewustwording is essentieel om meer aandacht te vestigen op de situatie van slachtoffers van cybercrime.
