Abstract
The “Leervoorwaardentest” (LVT) is a questionnaire that has been developed to assess the extent to which a student possesses the learning skills and socio-emotional skills required for learning situations. Pupils with an indication for cluster 4-education (schools for students with substantial behavioural problems or disorders) face relatively more obstacles in the field of learning preconditions than pupils without this indication. By means of quantitative research methods, an attempt will be made to answer the following research question: can the six direct learning conditions the LVT aims to measure in cluster 4-special education be properly distinguished? In the present study, the LVT scores of 265 cluster 4-pupils from schools in the north of the Netherlands were used to answer the research question. By calculating correlations and using factor analysis, the factorial validity of the LVT was examined and the model fit of the six sub-scales on the data was assessed.
