Abstract
Dit onderzoek betreft een kwalitatieve analyse van de parlementaire geschiedenis omtrent thuisonderwijs op grond van artikel 5b van de leerplichtwet. Hierbij is aan de hand van kamerstukken het politieke proces van 2003 tot 2017 in kaart gebracht en is onderzocht wat de onderliggende ideeën en opvattingen van verschillende politieke partijen zijn. Dit is inzichtelijk gemaakt door middel van de functies van onderwijs van Biesta (2014). Concluderend bleek dat de christelijke partijen, voornamelijk vanwege de grondslag, thuisonderwijs willen beschermen, terwijl progressieve partijen thuisonderwijs, vanwege de socialiserende functie van onderwijs, willen verbieden.
