Abstract

With the growing demand for an online work environment, the interest in how technological work interruptions affect employees’ job satisfaction increased. This study investigated the stress buffering role of mindfulness as a mediator on the negative relationship between technological work interruptions on job satisfaction. The research had a diary design and data was gathered from a convenience sample of 109 participants, who answered a baseline questionnaire and short daily questionnaires for a period of two weeks. The results showed that trait mindfulness is positively related to job satisfaction, such that employees higher in self-reported mindfulness experienced greater job satisfaction. However, technological work interruptions did not predict a decreased effect in job satisfaction, and the moderator was insignificant. Keywords: technological work interruptions, job satisfaction, trait mindfulness, organizational psychology.
