Abstract
Informed consent is crucial in modern medicine and human research, but retaining the information presented in information forms can be challenging. Addressing this, I conducted a study investigating interactivity as a modification to improve information retention and participant endorsement of it. Previous research by Geier et al. (2021) found that interactivity was the only modification significantly improving information retention. Marije aan het Rot (unpublished data) confirmed the efficacy of interactivity, while further noting that its effects were specific to information presented through interactivity, rather than a global increase in retention. In this paper participants were assigned to either the high interactivity condition, which had to answer questions to proceed in their information form, or the low interactivity condition, acting as the control condition. I theorized that high interactivity participants score higher than low interactivity participants, but expect this effect to be moderated by whether the question was previously asked to high interactivity participants. I furthermore speculated that interactivity will be rated as the most desirable method for improving information forms and that high interactivity participants will recommend it more than low interactivity participants. I conducted an experiment with 133 psychology bachelor students of the University of Groningen in their first semester, who were randomly assigned to either the high...
