Abstract

Previous research papers are mainly lacking in conceptualizing well-being in the university context. Moreover, the interaction of well-being between students and teachers tends not to be a research focus. Our study is interested in answering this gap by extending the conceptualization of well-being from previous research and looking deeper at the interaction of students and teachers well-being. Furthermore, we will also explore how autonomy could affect both students and teachers well-being. We used a qualitative method by conducting an in-depth interview with twelve participants: six students and six teachers. The findings show an extension of the conceptualization of well-being which include multiple factors that have been mentioned in prior researches. In addition, multiple significant factors in the complex interaction of well-being between teachers and students, revealing the reciprocal relationship. Lastly, autonomy was also found to have a more significant impact on both participants, but mostly on teachers. This study has found several interesting findings, including students' opinions regarding teachers, which have yet to be the focus of other researchers. Future research should focus more on the importance of the interaction between students and teachers well-being.
