Abstract
This study examines design preferences for a neurofeedback companion in neurofeedback training for people with cognitive and psychiatric complaints. The goal is to design effective neurofeedback companions that improve acceptance and effectiveness of the training. The research question focuses on differences in design preferences between both groups. A convenience sample of 519 participants completed an online questionnaire about color, shape, name and voice preferences, acceptance factors, and personality traits. The results show uniform design preferences: light colors, two colors, the name "Nova", a round shape for stomach and head, and an old robot voice. No significant differences were found between the groups, suggesting that one design may be suitable for both audiences. Despite limitations such as the use of a convenience sample, the study provides valuable insights due to the large sample size. Future research should investigate the implementation of the preferred features.
