Abstract
The constant changes and challenges entrepreneurs face require them to adapt. However, the literature on entrepreneurs’ adaptive behavior and its consequences is scattered. This scoping review, conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines, aims to provide a comprehensive overview of these consequences. A total of 24 papers were analyzed to map out the impacts of entrepreneurs’ adaptive behavior on themselves, their employees, and their organization. The consequences were classified into affective, behavioral, cognitive, physical, and mental & emotional health implications for entrepreneurs and their employees. Additionally, we identified financial and non-financial consequences for the entrepreneurs’ organizations. Based on the review, suggestions for future research were made, connecting entrepreneurs’ adaptive behavior and its outcomes with established theories. Overall, more research specifically on adaptive behavior and its short- and long-term consequences is needed to better understand its benefits and drawbacks. Keywords: Entrepreneurship, adaptive behavior, consequences, adaptability, review
