Abstract
This study investigates the interplay between shared leadership, trust, and performance between dyadic employee and leader dynamics in organizational settings. The primary aim was to examine whether trust moderates the relationship between shared leadership and performance outcomes. Data was collected from leaders and employees in various Dutch speaking companies and industries, utilizing a cross-sectional design. The findings indicate partial support for the hypotheses. Specifically, trust exhibited a significant positive relationship with job performance, affirming its important role in influencing workplace effectiveness. In contrast, shared leadership alone did not predict higher job performance, nor did trust have a statistically significant effect as a moderator, showing no interaction effects. However, limitations such as sample size constraints, reliance on self-reported data, and the cross-sectional nature of the study underscore direction for future research. Recommendations include longitudinal studies, objective performance measures, and broader sampling techniques to enhance generalizability and deepen insights into these intricate dynamics.
