Abstract
In dit onderzoek is gekeken naar het verband tussen sociaal economische status (SES) en subjectieve financiële prestaties. Uit eerder onderzoek naar het omgaan met financiën en de SES leek een verband te bestaan tussen de verschillende componenten van SES en het omgaan met financiën. In het huidige onderzoek zal worden gekeken naar het nog weinig onderzochte subjectieve financiële presteren, wat is gedefinieerd als de individuele mate van succes in de omgang met financiële eisen in combinatie met omgevingsfactoren. Dit is de sterkste voorspeller van financiële capaciteit, wat samen lijkt te hangen met welzijn het hebben van financiële middelen. De subjectieve financiële prestaties zijn gemeten aan de hand van de nieuw ontwikkelde Financiële Prestatie Schaal vragenlijst (FiPS). SES was geoperationaliseerd als het netto maandelijks inkomen, het aantal jaren onderwijs en het beroepsniveau op basis van de ISCO-08. SES bleek als model een significante voorspeller voor de score op de FiPS (R^2 = .077). Alleen het netto maandelijks inkomen was hierbij een significante voorspeller voor de score op de FiPS. Limitaties zijn dat de nieuwe vragenlijst nog een aantal verbeterpunten heeft en dat een groot aantal deelnemers student was. Desondanks is ondanks de kleine effectgrootte een eerste stap gezet in het onderzoek naar subjectieve financiële prestaties door middel van de FiPS. Meer onderzoek zal nodig zijn om de resultaten in perspectief te zetten. Trefwoorden: Financiële prestaties, FiPS, SES, Inkomen, Onderwijs, Baan, Financiën, ISCO-08.
