A thesis is an aptitude test for students. The approval of the thesis is proof that the student has sufficient research and reporting skills to graduate but does not guarantee the quality of the research and the results of the research as such, and the thesis is therefore not necessarily suitable to be used as an academic source to refer to. If you would like to know more about the research discussed in this thesis and any publications based on it, to which you could refer, please contact the supervisor mentioned.
Abstract
Attachment anxiety and breakup-related grief have been positively associated in previous studies. To further explore the nature of breakup-related grief, we investigated the relationship between attachment anxiety and breakup-related grief, with breakup initiator as a potential moderator. We hypothesized that attachment anxiety and breakup-related grief would have a positive relationship, and that breakup-initiator would moderate this relationship. Research among 62 students who experienced a breakup in the past 12 months supports the hypothesis that attachment anxiety would have a positive relationship with breakup-related grief. However, the initiator status did not significantly moderate this relationship. These findings suggest that while attachment anxiety contributes to breakup-related grief, the role of the breakup initiator may be less significant than previously thought.
