Abstract

This study investigated the moderating role of sense of power in the relationship between the trait anger and idea sharing in the workplace. Understanding the interplay between anger, sense of power, and idea sharing can offer valuable insights into fostering workplace creativity and innovation. The first hypothesis was that anger, as a negatively activating mood, promotes idea sharing through persistence and perseverance. This was followed by the second hypothesis, which expected this relationship to be moderated by sense of power, such that it is especially strong among people with a high sense of power. Data were collected via an online survey of 183 employees across 38 organisations. Results showed significant effects of anger (negatively correlated) and sense of power (positively correlated) on idea sharing, but no significant interaction effect was found. This suggested that sense of power did not moderate the relationship between anger and idea sharing.
