Abstract
This study aimed to explore the influence of individual biospheric values on workplace pro-environmental behaviour via self-efficacy and outcome-efficacy. While previous research has explored how different variables play a role in this relationship, we extend by proposing efficacy as an underlying mechanism. An online survey was conducted among employees (N=93). To test our reasoning we conducted a Pearson's correlation and two mediation analyses. As hypothesized, employees with stronger individual biospheric values were more likely to engage in workplace pro-environmental behaviours. Importantly, the mediation analyses found both self-efficacy and outcome-efficacy to be significant mediators in the relationship between individual biospheric values and workplace pro-environmental behaviors. Our findings suggest theoretical and practical implications, namely that organisations could foster a more sustainable workplace by tailoring their interventions through individual biospheric values and efficacy.
