Abstract

The thesis studied the relationship between individual biospheric values, perceived organizational biospheric values, self-efficacy and Workplace Pro-environmental Behavior (WPEB). To reduce negative environmental impact of large organizations, employees can perform workplace pro-environmental behavior. Studies show that higher biospheric values (both individual and perceived organizational) are related to more WPEB. This thesis hypothesized that higher individual biospheric values are related to more WPEB, higher perceived organizational biospheric values are related to more WPEB and that self-efficacy functions as a mediator between biospheric values and WPEB. The results show that higher individual biospheric values and higher perceived organizational biospheric values are positively correlated with WPEB and that self-efficacy is a partial mediator between both types of biospheric values and WPEB. To increase the performance of WPEB, organizations can focus on emphasizing their biospheric values and increasing the self-efficacy beliefs of their employees.
