Abstract
Deze scoping review onderzoekt hoe sociale media de perceptie van kinderen en jongeren beïnvloeden bij kleinschalige rampen zoals lokale overstromingen en branden. Op basis van theorieën zoals framing en cultivation blijkt dat sociale media zowel positieve als negatieve effecten hebben. Jongeren vinden via social media steun en informatie, maar worden ook blootgesteld aan traumatische beelden en misinformatie, wat kan leiden tot angst en vicarious trauma. Vooral algoritmes versterken herhaalde blootstelling. De sociale context, zoals steun van familie en vrienden, blijkt beschermend. Het onderzoek benadrukt het belang van mediageletterdheid en meer aandacht voor culturele verschillen en langetermijneffecten.
