Abstract

Eerder onderzoek toont aan dat fysieke, cognitieve en persoonlijkheidstests voorspellende waarde kunnen hebben in militaire selecties. Toch is de meerwaarde van cognitieve en persoonlijkheidsvragenlijsten vaak inconsistent aangetoond. Dit onderzoek onderzocht de predictieve validiteit van fysieke tests en de incrementele validiteit van cognitieve en persoonlijkheidstest voor uitval in drie opeenvolgende fases van de KCT-opleiding: de KD (n = 244), de VO2 (n = 108) en de ECO (n = 61). Logistische regressiemodellen werden getraind en gevalideerd met 10-fold kruisvalidatie. Prestaties van modellen werden onderling vergeleken in termen van het aantal misclassificatiefouten. De modellen met alleen fysieke tests voorspelden uitval redelijk consistent in alle fases. Cognitieve tests hadden nauwelijks toegevoegde waarde en persoonlijkheidskenmerken droegen alleen in latere fases bij aan de voorspelling. De resultaten onderstrepen het belang van dergelijke modelvalidatie en suggereren dat de voorspellende waarde van persoonlijkheidstests fase-afhankelijk kunnen zijn.
