Abstract

Psychopathie is onderdeel van de ‘Dark Triad’ en wordt geassocieerd met ongevoeligheid, een groot verlangen naar macht en controle en dominantie. Bovendien wordt deze persoonlijkheidstrek steeds vaker in verband gebracht met negatieve gedragingen op het werk. De huidige studie onderzoekt de modererende rol van angst voor machtsverlies onder leiders in de relatie tussen leider psychopathie en onrechtmatige supervisie. Gebaseerd op voorgaand onderzoek veronderstellen we een positieve relatie tussen leider psychopathie en onrechtmatige supervisie (Hypothese 1). Daarnaast verwachten we dat de angst voor machtsverlies van leiders een modererende impact heeft op de relatie tussen leider psychopathie en onrechtmatige supervisie (Hypothese 2). We hebben onze hypotheses onderzocht in een multi-source cross-sectionele veldstudie met behulp van 156 tweetallen, bestaande uit een leidinggevende en een ondergeschikte. De resultaten zijn via een regressie-analyse onderzocht. De resultaten bieden geen steun voor de hypotheses. Daarentegen is er een positief verband gevonden tussen leider psychopathie en de angst voor machtsverlies. Verder bespreken we de implicaties van onze bevindingen voor toekomstig onderzoek.
