Abstract
Er is onderzoek gedaan naar de vervulling van de drie basisbehoeften volgens de Basic Psychology Needs Theory binnen partnerrelaties. In deze these is specifiek gekeken naar een potentieel mediërend effect van de vervulling van de behoefte aan verbondenheid in de relatie tussen seksuele communicatie en seksuele tevredenheid in partnerrelaties. Het onderzoek is gedaan aan de hand van een steekproef van volwassenen in een vaste relatie (N = 121). Verwacht werd dat er een positief verband tussen seksuele communicatie en seksuele tevredenheid was en dat deze door vervulling van de behoefte aan verbondenheid gemedieerd werd. Er zijn sterke verbanden gevonden tussen alle drie de variabelen, maar verbondenheid werkte niet als mediator in dit onderzoeksmodel.
